Success is not an accident, it is a result of a process of action that has been deliberately planned and set out that when followed or carried out diligently, success is guaranteed. So when we talk about repositioning ourselves for success, we are saying we have either experienced it before or we have the potentials and have not tapped into it and now we want to or have to do something to reconnect to that potential in order to experience success that we all crave for. In order for us to reacquaint ourselves with success, therefore, we must follow the steps as laid down in the Bible.
The 1st step is in Joshua 1:6 – “Be bold and of a good courage”
When God said be bold and of good courage, He is not saying be stupid and foolish by placing your trust in the arm of flesh, rather He is saying put your trust in Him and He will deliver the success into your hands. To be bold does not equate being physically strong, although that may help, but to be bold simply means not to be afraid. That is not saying that the situation you are facing may not be fearful or intimidating, rather it is reminding you that “greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” and that “you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you” Let your boldness come from within based on the one who is behind you. Boldness is feeling the fear and doing it anyway because God is with you.
When David fought the lion and the bear that came after his sheep in the field, even though he was just a boy, all by himself, without any sophisticated weapon to attack the wild animals, his confidence in his God gave him the boldness to fight them and conquer them. The same boldness made him to face Goliath and the result from that promoted him to (a) A place of prominence through out Israel (b) Marry the king’s daughter (c) Deliver his father’s households from paying tax in Israel.
When the devil knows that you are bold and confident in your God, it will not bother you or hang around you for long. You may be asking, so, how can I become bold and courageous, – just know your God and who you are in Him.
Daniel 11v32 says: And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
The 2nd step is in Joshua 1:8 – Speak the Word of God.
Joshua 1v8 – This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth;
The books of the law as at his time were the 5 books of Moses – Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Here God is saying to Joshua – (you and I) that in order for us to regain and enjoy a life full of success, we must keep the word of God in our mouth always.
Your mouth is one of the gateways through which the word is planted in your heart and until it is planted into the good soil of your heart, there will be no fruit for you to enjoy. When God says keep the word in your mouth, He is saying speak the word all the time. The fact is you are always speaking – but are you saying what you want or what you see? The Bible did not say we should call those things that are as they are; rather it says call those things that are not as though they were. So, if you want to reposition your life for success, plant the seed of success with your mouth in your heart and then out of the overflow of your heart, you will eat the fruit thereof as you speak it out with your mouth. If you are not saying anything, you are not creating anything.
The 3rd step is in Joshua 1:8b – but you shall meditate therein day and night,
Meditation is simply to:
– Engage in a thought
– Contemplate or reflect on something
– Turn around a matter in your mind
– Chew or mutter on a matter, word or sentence
To meditate on a word is to take it from the point of a general word to everybody and bring it to a realm of personal word to you. If you have been reading the Bible as a storybook, meditation will help you read and see it as God talking to you directly. Meditation will move the word of God from your head to your heart which is the soil of your life that will produce the success that you are destined to have.
The 4th step is to – Take Action!
Words are cheap! There will be no result in all of the previous steps to bring the desired result until you actually take some actions! You must act on the words that you have been reading, speaking and meditating upon. This is saying or demonstrating that those words are not just God words to you, but they are true and trusted to the point you are prepared to act on them. It is not what you know that will give you result or success, rather it is what you do with what you know that will bring success.
Don’t be deceived by your past victories or successes either, yesterday’s success will not be enough to conquer today’s trials. You have to face your battles daily, apply the same method that got you the victory before and you will make your way prosper today.
The word of God is the power of God, in order to manifest the promises of God regarding living a life of success, we must:
– Be bold and courageous
– Speak the Word
– Meditate on the Word
– Apply the Word
